Ant Unit Study for Kids!
Our kids love counting ants, it’s definitely one of the things we count on a regular basis, but this month is a really fun time to pull them out.
Today I had some of the ant counters cut into two’s and guided them to skip count by two’s to twelve. I also included the 12 card for them to refer too.
When we pulled this pack out to photograph, my son was so interested to start it, we had a mini lesson there there, which I was so happy about. We counted ants with the 1 to 12 blank cards, which allows kids to place the correct number onto the card, as well as colouring there Masterpiece Numbers book.
I have been sharing a lot about how we like to pair up our counters with our Masterpiece Numbers, which allows your kids to create, play and design their own numbers with any type of themed lesson you are working on.
Above, Connor wanted to count his ants, but also place them along the number 4 to build the number. His little brother coloured the page previously while I read the book “Are You an Ant?” by Judy Allen. (One of our kids favourite spring time books!)
Then I pulled out our embroidery supplies to create a lovely little “A” needle felting art work.
He loved it!
Find our ant counters and flashcards in our Ants in the Garden Learning Pack, and also included in our April Garden Learning Bundle. Pair with with our Veggie + Herb Pack for even more nature themed gardenschooling lessons.
