Kid-Friendly Edible Cookie Dough Recipe + Our Top 5 Books About Chocolate Chip Cookies
After celebrating our sons 6th birthday last month, and releasing our newest Adventure all about Michelangelo, I wanted to make him something yummy to enjoy, without the worry of raw cookie dough. And, we had just made the recipe that’s included in the Adventures in Italy number 5 which is one of the best Italian Chocolate Cookie Recipes which my kids ask to make on a regular basis ( you can see more about it in this IgTv video here). For those of you who would rather just eat the dough, this recipe is one to add to your collection.
Adapted from @livforcake’s recipe, I have kept it nice and simple for you guys, with the perfect sized version, for your next Story time! In fact, we love the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff, because it’s just so fun and I just added our Book Inspired Learning Pack for it in our shop under “Book Inspired Learning Packs.” You might just love it. It includes a great chocolate chip cookie recipe and so much more.
Check it out here:
But, if you are looking for a cookie dough recipe that’s totally just for snacking on, the trick is actually really simple, and I just had to share it with you plus our top 5 books we love about chocolate chip cookies. Here’s the trick:
Omit the eggs, and bake the flour for 5-10 minutes and let cool before use.
That’s it.
You don’t need too much for each batch, and the amount I am sharing here is really perfect. Grab your mini chocolate chips and let’s get baking!
Kid-Friendly Edible Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup of heat-treated all purpose flour
1/2 cup of soft salted butter (a heaping full cup is fine!)
4 TBSP of White Sugar
4 TBSP of light brown sugar
2/4 tsp of pure vanilla extract
Dash of salt
2 tsp of milk ( add 1 at a time as needed)
1/4 cup of mini chocolate chips
PREP-WORK: Place 2 cups of flour on a lined baking sheet in the oven at 350F and then set aside. Keep this in a bag or container for later use.
Method:
Start by creaming your butter and sugars.
Then add in your vanilla, salt and a bit of milk.
Use a spoon or your hands to bring together into a smooth dough.
Add in your mini chocolate chips, and mix in until combined.
Enjoy with your favourite books all about cookies! That’s it! (Store it in the fridge when you aren’t snacking on it.)
