Learn About Michelangelo's David with Children's Books
Learning about Michelangelo with the Adventures in Italy has been so fun over this last year. While we have been developing our curriculum for The Build Your Masterpiece Class, our kids have loved re-visiting this art lesson of carving soap and reading the books.
Each child has learned something new every time we have repeated this lesson, not only for my editing purposes, but also because of their interest. The first time we did the lesson outline, they were so excited to do this hands-on project all together, and wanted to recreate the sword in the stone. As we continued to learn more about Michelangleo and his David, the kids wanted to carve soap again and again.
The books included in our Adventures in Italy #5 help teach the whole picture.
“Stone Giant” by Jane Suttcliff visually tells the story of the creation of David by Michelangleo to kids in such a wonderful way! Seeing how large the marble really was, and learning that it sat for so long without anyone working on it, outside in the courtyard of the cathedral in Florence Italy is really amazing.
With our lesson plans you and your kids can learn in a gentle, fun and engaging way!
Our Unit Studies are divided into “Adventures” which are bite-sized so you to add them easily into your homeschool schedule however as you see fit! Purchase them individually as we release a new one (or sometimes more than one) each month, as we write them and as they are ready. Families with kids for ages 3 to 13! Kids and parents around the world have found so much from it!
Within each adventure you will find original coloring pages perfect for all ages!
Reinforce memory retention and fine motor skills with coloring.
Use the basic art supplies you have on hand to add a dose of art into your day or break out the watercolors for a bit of a change, with the same coloring pages. Oil pastels are another favorite of our kids, a basic art supply I fully suggest you give a try. They add a boost of color that only oil pastels can.
Easily Add Hands-on Art into your day!
