Valentine's Day Cookies & Learning Resources
Share the love with our no-chill sugar cookie recipe, perfect for Valentine's Day, plus 10 learning Resources you will love ❤️
Valentine's Day is tomorrow...
And the diverse children's book "Love is..." by Deirdre Pecchinoni Cummings, and Erika Busse, that we have recently reviewed, has brought the joy of sharing love into our homeschool in the most beautiful and simplest of ways. My kids call this 'the love book', and it is a great story to retell this time of year.
Your kids will enjoy the story of a young girl who understands that love is everywhere, and for everyone.
I was drawn to this book by the thought of picking hearts from a tree and that she gives love to her dreams, such as 'the purple mermaid'. This concept that love is in nature, all around us and truly free is a lesson to be shared to our children time and time again.
This Valentine's Day try our classic no-chill sugar cookie recipe that we simply adore!
We love it because it tastes amazing and you can make it the day of any event, without having to wait for it to chill over night. Let's start baking!
No-Chill Sugar Cookies
Ingredients needed:
- 2 cups of Sugar
- 2 cups of Soft Butter (Tip, leave cold butter on the counter for 1 hour, then use. If it's too soft, the cookies can become dry)

The method for making your own No-Chill Sugar Cookies with your kids this Valentine's Day:
Cream your soft butter, with the sugar, until it is fluffy and smooth. Add in your eggs, one at a time. Next, the vanilla extract and slowly, 1 cup at a time, beat in your flour until you have a soft, perfect cookie dough that looks like this.Once your dough has come together, you can simply begin to roll it out, without chilling. How great is that?
Time to Roll it out- No chill Needed!
I love this recipe because you can simply roll it out at this stage. Normally, I shy away from making sugar cookies because of the chilling time. With this no-chill sugar cookie recipe you can now prepare your surface with a dash of flour, and begin to roll out your dough! It rolls out perfectly!Next you cut out your cookie shapes, today they are hearts!
Bake at 350F for 6-8 minutes, depending on the size of your cookies.
These hearts took 8 minutes, and no longer. And ta-da, you have cookies made in no time at all! They will always look not done, but they will be perfect after a couple more minutes sitting on the baking sheet, out of the oven.
Icing Time!
They taste lovely plain, if you have zero time for icing, but this recipe is really easy, fast and the way I ice cookies... it will take no time at all for you to manage.
Sugar Cookie Icing Recipe:
