7 Ways to Introduce Art Appreciation in Your Homeschool

I have included masterpieces from Claude Monet in our #readpaintcookactivitycalendar and learning packs and our France Adventures (𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰𝘰𝘯) 𝘀𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀. ⁣

7 Ways to Introduce Art Appreciation in Your Homeschool:⁣

✨show art that you love, and make connections with.⁣

✨ask your kids questions about the art; what do you see, what do you thinks it’s about? Have them share they thoughts. ⁣

✨include children’s books that link to the topic found in the art (𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘶𝘮 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶!)⁣⁣

✨have your kids create their own paintings or drawings with the art work presented in front of them, but encourage them to create what they desire, and not to worry about perfection or having it look just like the art they see.

✨ if you are inspired, like I usually am, feel free to create your own art along side them. Your work will act as a teaching tool, for you to share what you see, think, and feel as well as any techniques you may know. ⁣

✨show praise for their thoughts and insights and write down their thoughts for later. If they can write their thoughts down you could have them do that. If not, that’s ok! 𝘚𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩. ⁣

✨have fun with it. If they aren’t interested, don’t fret. Pin it up and move on. They may come back to it later and find connections with it. But I would say not to force engagement if the interest isn’t there. 🥰⁣
