Logan’s Snap Cube Design Collection
I wanted to share and document Logan’s stories & builds that he has been making with his Snap Cubes during the month of June 2018. Most of them have been weapons for the game Minecraft. (I talk about this more at the bottom of the post.) We are embracing the Brave Writer Lifestyle and as he is in the jot-it-down stage, I am paying more close attention to what he is building and what he has to say about the creations. To my surprise, he had more to say then we all thought, and I am hooked on this jot-it-down stage! Also please note, the descriptions in this post, were me writing what he dictated to me, with no editing, and for more of personal documentation. However, I wanted to share them with anyone who may need inspiration on ways they could use their snap cubes at home.
Logan's Collection of Snap Cube Builds:
Lemon ? shooter that was shaped like an F, it shoots out lemons at the bad guy but doesn’t kill them, it just knocks them out.The teleporter Gun: a gun that has ender pearls inside it, which make the gun teleport you. And your guy can teleport all over the place. The white sword: a white sword that makes snow! ❄️ it shoots out snow at the bad guys. The Weight. It makes your muscles ? get even stronger. It makes stone inside and it places the stone where you want it. It can throw the stones out as well and hit the bad guys. The Mini Weights. Allows you to have one in each ? hand. You place them down, and they become bombs that will only explode when you are a safe distance away. They will only explode an enemy that comes near them.A torch sword: a sword that places down torches on the ground anytime you need one. Here is what the torches look like once they come off/out of the sword. It’s comes off the sword as it's made from blocks.A snorkel-snorkel: it is an airplane that can go underwater and picks up the water and shoots it at the bad guys. When you want the snorkel-snorkel to float on the water it turns into this. Longer wings and the water sucker at the front folds down. The master ⚔️ swords: you can put them together to make one large sword. Or you can keep them as two for each hand. They can heal you when they touch you but they kill zombies. The new Splatoon gun:It has lots of ammo and it turns into a shell that protects you from splashing ink from other players. Here is Logan showing himself with the gun and inside a shell of protection. The zombie ‘Going’ swordThis Going Sword was created to push the zombies away from you, to make them "go" away.
His imagination is always on and these Snap cubes help him

The Discussion about Building Weapons
I have shared that my son loves Minecraft, and loves to build weapons and things like that, and I wanted to touch base on that a bit here...I was once in a teacher supply store and overheard a teacher saying how they do not allow their students to use these snap cubes to build weapons, and in the schools I can understand why they must say this, but I suppose this does bring up the subject of what is appropriate for young kids, and every parent has the right to choose this. Some do not allow toy weapons and such, which is to each their own. However, my children love the fictional game of Minecraft, and the concept of fighting off zombies and mobs of all kinds. The thought of not allowing them to use their creativity in this way, just because it 'looks like a gun' is a problem for me, so I allow them to do so. Some parents may not agree, and that is totally fine! Just keep in mind, that my kiddos do not only build weapons but also unique and special tools for survival as well as many new characters. These cubes are great for building Minecraft related things because the world of Minecraft is all cubed shaped.I recommend that you encourage your kids to use their creativity, and interests no matter what because it will help them express their individual identity and sense of purpose and self. To say that their idea is wrong, can be very damaging on their self-confidence, and what they create opens the door for you as the parent or teacher to understand them more, and guide them. Of course, now as I update this post two years later, I see that allowing my young son the opportunity to build and create from his interests has only helped him further his imagination, writing skills and creativity. I hope that this helps anyone in the future, who may have any worries or concerns about it all.
Do your children who love to tell stories about the things they build? I'd love to hear about it in the comments below.
Till next time, have fun with scissors and glue, and snap cubes too!~Alexandra
