Amy's books bring hope, joy and spark conversations of deep thought. They seem to have a deeper meaning to me now, after hearing about her recent passing. Plant a Kiss ~ A Book Inspired Art Project For Kids I was really inspired by this book, and my daughter as well. The beautiful illustrations by Peter H. Reynolds really influenced the choices for our art project today.Lately, we have been using recycled materials in our art projects and we have been collecting all sorts of colored tissue paper from past birthdays and this past Christmas. I thought I could use it in a neat way. Plant a Kiss ~ A Book Inspired Art Project For Kids I cut out many circles in random sizes and ended up with lots of colorful tissue paper dots, perfect for many fun art projects to come as well as this project.My daughter read the book to me and then I read it again to her. We talked about the concept of planting a kiss and also the reality of how we plant ? seeds of all kinds, with setting goals or making plans. Sometimes we start out hopeful but after a while, if we don't see the growth we hoped to see, we can get sad and doubt ourselves.We also talked about not being patient and waiting long enough, or else you might start to plant another seed or kiss and always keep repeating the first steps.

I love how this easy-to-read, lovely book brings such deep thoughts to children's minds.

What You Need:

Large paper (we used watercolor paper)
Glue
Circles out of tissue paper
Washable paint and tray
The book Plant a Kiss by Amy Krouse Rothernsal

What to do:Cut out your tissue paper circles, and prepare your art table. Plant a Kiss ~ A Book Inspired Art Project For Kids Once you have all your circles, grab your paint, tray, and q-tips.We painted yellow and pink dots with q-tips and let our imagination create what we thought our 'kiss' would look like.Everyone's art will be unique to their kiss!
