Painting Pumpkins for Halloween

Painting Pumpkins for Halloween has been one of the most fun and messy art projects we have done! Try this one out today! We bought three pumpkins for Halloween and my son was the lead painter for this project. He really wanted to paint his pumpkin, and he chose black, blue and white. It was a joy to see him paint this pumpkin, and he was so artistic, he just had a vision, and went for it!

Supplies Needed:

Method for painting your own pumpkins:

Prepare your table with newspaper, gather your paints, brushes, and containers of water.Like Picasso says, "I go where the art takes me", so I suggest that you do the same and paint your pumpkins, in whatever way the 'art takes you.'

We set up our table with newspapers, paint pallets, and the paint. My little Picasso was very inspired and did not waste any time on getting his pumpkin painted.  And I guess paint brushes are optional when you really want to get a dripping paint effect going on.  The lesson I learned from my son is to just go with it.My daughter wanted to carve her pumpkin all by herself and he wanted to really paint his. We had a very busy table going on, and it was awesome!
